Blessings and love
/Sometimes, it is necessary to close our eyes.
Receding into a melancholic warmth.
Deeply sown husks allowed to split tenderly.
A courageous prayer whispered in the ear of obscurity.
A loneliness we embrace, the nourishing spectre we fear.
Flitters the scent of innocence, dancing through the breeze.
-
To whom it may concern, or not concern,
Tis always something we can learn,
Reflect. Inspect. Deflect. Correct.
The spark insight, eureka, ah-ha!
Guides deep and wide, closer to thee.
For connect, love, peace…I yearn, to be.
-
Kissed by rays of a warm embrace
Gazing upon the blind scurry of the hurry to-dos
Pondering pulls up a seat; the token nod indicating social contract met
Ah, the awkward meanderings of those who rather be other places
I do wonder if you are alone in your head
Let me meet you at the intersection of how are you truly
-
My bloody thumb seeping
through the bandage, covers my words.
A poem written in blood is wasted atop
this shiny screen.
Bring black burnt corners, engulfing
scorched words.
Bring! bring! bring! Cups n’ string.
Bottled messages with salty edges.
You’ll never taste an emoji…
-
sticky fingers, ghoul eyes
painted faces, hidden smiles
samhian, all hallows’ eve, halloween
day of the dead, it surely is
you made it so, you made it so
day of the dead, it surely is, you made it so
Blessings and love is a collaborative poem written by five writers, all given the same question. The poem was written without seeing what the others had written. Constructed in the order of submissions. Reproduced in the way it was given. Five voices. One poem. A strange but beautiful way to create art. Thank you Leslie Lau for a courageous prayer. Cheers to Rob Gronbeck for the spark insight. Go raibh maith agat Steve Brophy for rays of a warm embrace. Thumbs up to Benny Wellington for bottled messages with salty edges. And gratitude to Kristina Garla, for you made it so. Blessings and love.
